Welcome

If this is your first time visiting, welcome. If you are returning again, welcome back. While this blog was originally not going to be about me or my life, it seems to be morphing to include more of myself and experiences. I will still strive to add a different perspective to the news and events around the world that impact everyone's life, however, I will focus more attention on issues that relate more tangibly to our personal lives. We all live in a world that is increasingly interconnected yet it seems a lot of people are turning inwards, shying away from human interaction. Lets step away from ourselves and see what we can do to make a difference. There are ads on this page and 65 cents of every dollar earned will be donated towards helping the homeless. Questions on Our Nation's Birthday

Its July 4th today, our nation's birthday, and while I wouldn't want to live anywhere other than where I do, I question our nation's path.  I have stayed away from politics in my blog of late because whenever I start talking about it, it turns out to be more of the same, bickering, bickering, indecision, and more bickering.   Even with the recent leak by Snowden about the NSA's surveillance of emails and phone calls, I haven't wanted to talk about it because it simply makes me angry.  There is nothing worse in my mind than a government who claims to be on the side of the people yet can't be upright and honest with them.  We are told one thing by our government and as it turns out, they are doing a more behind our backs that goes against what they say than actually following what they say.  There is the claim that the NSA's surveillance is to prevent terrorism, criminal activity, blah, blah, blah.  So why can't they be upfront with us and tell us what is going on?  I know, its because if they tell us what is happening, the terrorists will get wind and find other means of communication.  Seriously?  Even the U.S. Postal Service photographs every piece of mail sent every day just in case some law enforcement agency wants to track a piece of mail and figure something out with it.  Unless terrorists and criminals go back to utilizing carrier pigeons, I am not aware of any other forms of communication except talking to someone in person, that can be utilized.  To me, our privacy and freedom is slowly being usurped from beneath our feet and our government claims it is only to protect us.  Bullshit, at least partly.  They may want to protect us, but at least be honest with us.  Maybe try a little transparency for once instead of deviant measures to hide the truth from our eyes.  Most of the citizens in the United States won't give a damn about what the government is doing as long as they are left alone.  Yet, are we being left alone or is everything we do being watched.  Lets think about it, our government is turning us against ourselves with every citizen told to be a spy and "if you see something, say something".  What is that ethereal "something"?  Well, it could be anything, a package, a suspicious person, a car with tinted windows driving slowly, someone standing for too long in one place.  Where does it end?  At what point does "something" become "everything".

Its not only our government spying on us, its our fellow citizens.  I don't know if anyone these days has read the book "1984", but it seems our world is turning into the world in that book.  It won't be long now before our televisions are capable of spying on us while we watch them.  Hell, if we leave our computer on a hacker can get in and use the camera to see what we are doing.  Hard to do?  For some yes, for others, a walk in the park.  Am I going off the deep end a little bit here?  Absolutely, but sometimes we need to increase our suspicions in order to stay on our toes and let nothing slip by us.  How much longer now before our government starts using drones to spy on us?  If it hasn't already happened, I am sure it will soon, all in the name of National Security.  That agency is such a load of crap to begin with.  Instead of being called the National Security Administration, it should instead be called the "We Spy on You Administration".  But hey, its July 4th, and enough of this talk of our subversive government seeking to upend our way of life and turn us into a surveillance state.  Lets look instead to our distractions for today; picnics, BBQ's, and fireworks.  Let us treasure what we have while we can instead of letting our government instill a persistent fear that terrorists are at our doorstep just waiting to get in.  If the government succeeds in turning us into its own spies, then the terrorists have already one.  The whole goal of a terrorist is not to simply create destruction, but to instill fear and terror that they can do what they want.  The government has bought into the terrorists mantra and they are trying to force it down our throats.  I say screw the government and lets all have a bear, a burger, and a hot dog.  Let us go swimming on this 4th of July and not be on the lookout for something.  Lets leave that something in the garbage and enjoy ourselves.  Screw our government for they can't infringe upon our ability to buy beer and burgers and have a damn BBQ.  So today, lets celebrate what our nation was created for, as a place where people could be free to do what they want and not have to worry about intrusions into their privacy.  Let us celebrate that and not our current government.  So today, I drink to our freedom!
